HTC VIVE vs HTC VIVE Cosmos Elite

When you compare the HTC VIVE Cosmos Elite to the HTC VIVE you can see which VR Headset is better. Let's take a look of the comparison, and see which model of VR Headset out ontop.

What VR Headset is better?

The HTC VIVE Cosmos Elite and HTC VIVE are both virtual reality headsets, designed for PC VR gaming. Both headsets boast a field of view of 110 degrees, and they both feature room scale tracking with 360 degree head tracking capabilities. In terms of resolution however, the VIVE Cosmos Elite offers an edge with its 1440 x 1700 px resolution over the 1080 × 1200 px resolution found on the regular VIVE. This makes the picture on the screen much sharper and provides better visuals overall in comparison to that of its counterpart. Additionally, while both headsets require either an Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD FX 8350 CPU or better to run properly, the graphics card requirements for optimal performance differ slightly between them. The Cosmos Elite requires an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB, AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB equivalent or better VR Ready graphics card, whereas the regular VIVE needs an Nvidia GeForce™ GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon™ RX 480 instead. As far as refresh rate goes though, both models have a refresh rate of 90 Hz which ensures smooth motion without any lag in movement during intense gameplay sequences.

In my opinion however I found that I personally enjoyed using the HTC Vive Cosmos Elite more than the original Vive headset due to its improved visual quality thanks to its higher resolution display and graphics card requirements for optimal performance. Although it does require a slightly higher end machine than its predecessor in order to be able to take advantage of all its features fully, having such a vivid display when playing games is well worth it in my opinion. The only potential downside could be how much power such a high-end machine requires in order to run smoothly; however this will vary depending on what type of processor you have available at your disposal as well as how powerful your computer is overall (in terms of RAM capacity etc). That being said though I believe that if you’re looking for a top notch PC VR experience then going with the HTC Vive Cosmos Elite would be your best bet – especially if you’re willing to make sure that your hardware can handle running it properly!
