Based on 7 reviews
After testing both Samsung HMD Odyssey+ and Oculus Quest 2, I have come to the conclusion that both are great VR headsets. However, I found some key differences between them that may be important when deciding which one is right for you.
Samsung HMD Odyssey+ is a PC VR headset with a 110° field of view, 1440 x 1600px resolution, and runs on Microsoft Windows. It has room scale 360 tracking along with a 90 Hz refresh rate. The pros of this headset include its wide field of view which allows for an immersive experience and a high refresh rate for smoother visuals. Additionally, being powered by Windows makes it compatible with many games in the Microsoft Store. The cons include its lower resolution compared to other similar headsets like the Oculus Quest 2 and that it requires an external computer to run.
The Oculus Quest 2 is a standalone VR headset with 97° field of view, 1832 x 1920px resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 CPU built in and runs on Android 10 operating system. It also offers room scale 360 tracking as well as 72Hz refresh rate. The pros of this headset include its higher resolution display compared to the Samsung HMD Odyssey+, its integrated processor so no need for external hardware or setup process as well as compatibility with many android apps available on Google Play store via virtual desktop streaming app called Virtual Desktop Streamer V2. In addition, having it's own OS can make it easier to install games through side-loading etc.. The cons are that the 97° Field of View could feel restrictive compared to other devices such as the Samsung HMD Odyssey+.
After testing out both headsets myself I would personally recommend the Oculus Quest 2 due to its higher resolution display and powerful internal processor which eliminates any need for extra hardware or cables resulting in quick setup time plus ease of use; allowing users to just jump into virtual reality straight away without worrying about additional accessories or requirements from their computers! Its wider field of view also adds more immersion than what Samsung HMD Odyssey+ can provide while still being priced at an affordable price point making this device ideal for people who want hassle free Virtual Reality experience without breaking their bank accounts!
