No matter how you cut it, the Quest 2 is still the standalone VR headset most consumers should buy. But the Focus 3 is perfect for businesses looking for something a bit more sturdy and powerful. Additional battery packs will also cost extra, and considering how polished the actual headset is, the business app store is bafflingly unintuitive. Despite the cost, however, this headset is a must-have for any organisation that’s considering seriously investing in VR technology. Enterprise VR may have started as a bit of a novelty, but it’s certainly not any more.

All in all, the Vive Focus 3 packs a big VR punch. But is it worth the $1300 price tag? Let’s just say this headset is not meant to replace your Oculus Quest 2. If you’re looking to strictly socialize and play games, this isn’t the headset for you. The Vive Focus 3 is a workhorse designed specifically for business use. It’s comfortable, fast, and has the potential to be an excellent tool for the workforce. ut that doesn’t mean HTC’s all-new standalone VR headset couldn’t be your day-to-day work/gaming system either. The lightweight design, swappable battery, and 5K resolution with 120-degree FOV makes the Vive Focus 3 an excellent VR solution for enterprise customers, and if you need a little extra power, you can always tether the headset to a VR-ready PC using HTC’s Vive Streaming Cable.

The HTC Vive Focus 3 is the best standalone headset that we've tested. The screens are great, the performance is excellent, the field of view exceeds the competition by a significant margin, and the tracking is phenomenal. This headset has almost everything we'd like to see in a high-end consumer device. It's a shame this isn't for consumers.

Vive Focus 3, a $1,300 standalone headset that's really only meant for businesses. Because it costs $1,000 more than the Oculus Quest 2, the Focus 3 unsurprisingly offers better hardware, ergonomics and build quality than Oculus's headset. It's the difference between building a device that's meant to be used throughout the day in professional settings, and something you may use once in a while for gaming. The Vive Focus 3 is meant to get shit done.
