Based on 6 reviews
Comparing two virtual reality headsets, the Samsung Gear VR and the DPVR E3-B, is no easy task. Both products offer a unique set of features that makes them desirable for different use cases. When it comes to field of view, the Samsung Gear VR offers 101° while the DPVR E3-B offers 110°, giving users slightly more immersion when playing games or watching movies.
When it comes to resolution, both devices offer 2560 x 1440 px, so they are equal in this regard. However, when looking at operating systems and room scale abilities there are some differences. The Samsung Gear VR operates on Android while the DPVR E3-B runs on both Mac OS and Microsoft Windows. In terms of room scale tracking, both headsets have 360 tracking capabilities however, only the DPVR has minimum CPU (Intel Core i5-6500 or equivalent AMD FX 8350) and graphics requirements (Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 or equivalent AMD Radeon R9 290). This means users will need a more powerful PC to use with this headset than with its competitor.
Another specification worth considering is refresh rate: The Samsung Gear VR has a 60 Hz refresh rate whereas the DPVR E3-B has 70 Hz which can provide smoother motion in certain circumstances such as gaming or video playback.
In conclusion I prefer using my DPVR E3-B because I find having higher specifications give me an advantage over other players in multiplayer games due to improved graphical quality and frame rates as well as faster responsiveness when controlling characters or vehicles during gameplay sessions. Additionally I like having support for Mac OS since most VR headsets support Windows but not necessarily Macs so it’s nice to have options outside of SteamVR support if needed.
