What VR Headsets Work with VRChat?

Lora Garcia25 Mar 2022

With the advent of virtual reality gaming, a new spin on an old trend has emerged. The idea of chat rooms – where many unknown users met up and conversed – has been losing popularity for years. But VR has opened new doors VRChat is one of the most extensive – and most popular – of the new virtual chat rooms (though it's more than that). Users may create worlds where they and their friends (or strangers) can explore and interact. The game is entirely VR-focused, with players immersed in the settings of their choice.  Players may explore each new world via various avatars, from Shrek to a digitized version. Today, we'll look at some of the headsets that gamers use for this game to determine which is the best virtual reality headset for VRChat. We'll go through some of the distinctive elements that distinguish these VR headsets from others, as well as some of their shortcomings.

Let's get started!

Oculus Rift S

The Original Oculus Rift debuted on the market in 2016, making it one of the pioneering companies in the field of VR.  Prior VR headsets existed, but the Rift was definitely in the first wave of devices to break into the market. The enhanced Rift S Series has more advantages than the old one. After all, Oculus VR's first product helped start the VR craze that we're now riding. It shows that they've successfully extracted the finest aspects of their original design while incorporating new technology and visuals. After all, high-quality shaving products can sometimes be exorbitantly expensive. But, of course, we wouldn't want to overlook the price tag of this product.  Although virtual reality is still a luxury activity, and hardware can easily set you back an arm and a leg, the Rift S is the most reasonably priced on our list. pros:

  • The ergonomic design prevents any discomfort from occurring.
  • Simple controls
  • Reduced screen-door effect
  • It's really simple to utilize.

cons:

  • The audio quality is not comparable to other solutions.
  • Not all computers support DisplayPort.

However, there's one factor that impacts just about everyone: price. The new Oculus Rift S not only retains great characteristics and improves on the flaws, but it also maintains a budget-friendly price. If you're searching for a VR headset that offers top value, this is the one to get!

Samsung Odyssey

The Samsung Odyssey is the most well-rounded VR experience available from any product on this list. With its amazing clarity, coupled with its simplicity – especially when compared to some of the more complicated rigs out there - you can immerse yourself without interruptions or distractions. Samsung is more well-known for its mobile devices, but the company's first foray into computer-based virtual reality has resulted in a unique product that provided us with our finest experience during testing. The OLED display produces the best picture quality of any device on this list, and you can effortlessly slip into any world you've just entered through VRChat because of it. The controls are simple, with only a few things to remember.  The movement control of the Oculus was superior to that of the Samsung, but it wasn't worth noting. Finally, the simplicity of this device raises it to a new level.  External sensors, cameras, and wires can get in the way of you setting up other VR devices on this list. You might be tied up while trying to enter into VRChat in the case of most other gadgets on this list. Fortunately, this is not the case with the Odyssey.  Rather, this method employs a totally basic system with no drawbacks.  The lack of sensors may impact your movement in unusual circumstances, such as when your arms are behind you. Beyond that, there won't be much of a difference. It's now time to look at the cost. Simply put, this headset is in the middle of the high-end price range and is a little more high-end than some of the lower-cost headsets, but it's far less expensive than high-end systems that claim to cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. However, considering all of the features we've already mentioned, the Odyssey is a bargain! Why did we choose this particular product?

  • It's simple to set up.
  • Excellent picture quality
  • Design that is elegant, streamlined, and modern.
  • It's a fair price range.

What we didn't like:

  • Due to the simplicity of the design, some limited movement tracking is possible.
  • Controller design, in general, Lower-quality

Our Overall Takeaway Let me put it another way: buy this one now! No VR headset is perfect, but the Samsung is the closest thing we've found.  You'll get a better physical immersion experience with a more comfortable headset and fewer distracting "bells and whistles." You also get the most crystal-clear visual clarity on the market. At a great price, too. While the controls were basic, and there were some range-of-motion issues, the excellent characteristics of this product easily outweigh these minor deficiencies.

HTC Vive Pro

Bear with me on this one because I'm sure most of you won't be enthused by the word "premium." Yes, this equipment is costly. In a void where price doesn't matter, this system would most likely topple the Samsung as our favorite if we only considered product quality, immersion, range of motion, and comfort.  We have everything you need to know about the new HTC Vive Pro 2, including release date, specs, price, and where to buy. We'll go through all of that and more in this post... It's worth noting that the Vive has been around for a while now, which means they've had plenty of time to perfect many of the features in their design.  They've had ample time to smooth out the kinks in their design instead of newcomers to Samsung. With the Pro, this shows. Immersion goes beyond just video quality. Samsung, for example, had the clearest video quality, but I'd argue that the Vive Pro has the best immersion of any device on the list. This is because the headset aims to provide full visual continuity, so you won't notice any peripheral limits that might take you "out of the experience."  Similarly, minor mistakes in other products, such as light passing through the nose piece, have been addressed. The video quality for this product is nothing short of stunning, while I already made a big deal out of it. We noticed how readable and clearly defined in-game text has become with the Pro. We discovered that subtitles, health bars, and names were viewable on the device. **Audio quality is also sharp, and the attached speakers fit comfortably over your ears. ** There's a non-material aspect to this product as well.  It's worth noting, even though it is intangible. When it comes to this one, you'll find many people raving about it, and I believe that's because of its excellent audio, visuals, and high price.  The target audience is already huge fans of VR, and this technology extends their enjoyment. Why we liked this product:

  • Excellent picture quality
  • Visibility: wide-angle
  • The greatest overall immersive experience
  • Excellent sound technology

What we didn't like:

  • Very high price point
  • Difficult setup
  • Takes up a lot of space

Our Takeaway in a Nutshell If you're into VR and you have lots of moolah for the premium version, this is the best option on the market. Immersion should always take precedence, and the Vive Pro will keep you fully engaged in any game you play. In VRChat, you'll feel as though you're living inside your avatar and exploring whatever fantastic realm you've just discovered.
